To ensure the modifier appears correctly on the claim, it must be added at the patient authorization (Auth) level, not only under the insurance contract rate.
Please follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the patient’s Bio > Insurance / Authorization.
- Edit the service under the Service Utilization section.
- Add the required modifier to the authorized CPT code and save.
- Once updated, retract the claim from both:
- Process Billing
- Manage Billing
- After retracting, regenerate the billing/claim so the modifier pulls through correctly.
Once this is completed, the modifier should appear on the newly generated claim and allow you to resubmit it via the portal.
