Before the update – The miscellaneous extra charges added to the invoice were treated as a credit for the deposit and the amount will come under the unallocated amount in the cash posting module.

With this update – Any miscellaneous extra charges applied to the invoice will be treated as an allocated amount in cash posting instead of being treated as an unallocated amount. In this way, when the payment for the invoice is being processed, it will include the miscellaneous charge. The miscellaneous extra charges can be used in scenarios like late fees.

How are miscellaneous charges treated in cash posting:

1. To add a miscellaneous extra charge to an invoice, click the Patient Statement option in the Billing tab.

2. Under the Manage Statement, use the filters to pull up the invoice.

3. Click the Action (…) button and select the Extra Charge option.

4. Click the Add Extra Charge button. Enter the description and the amount, and click the Close button.

5. After adding the extra charge, click the Action (…) button again and select the Get Paid through CC option. To pay the invoice through the patient's credit card on file.

6. Select the card, the payment amount, and click the Proceed button to complete payment.

7. This action will generate a deposit for this payment in the cash posting module.

8. To access the deposit, click the Cash Posting option under the Payment tab.

9. The corresponding deposit for the payment will be available in the deposits table.

10. Before this update – For this scenario, the invoice amount $100 and the extra charge amount $20 will come under the allocated column as $120.

After this update – For this scenario, the Invoice amount $100 would have come under the allocation column and the extra charge $20 would have come under the unallocated column.

11. Click the Action (…) button and select the Edit Deposit option.

12. In this screen, the Miscellaneous extra charge will come in the Miscellaneous Amount field instead of coming in the Unallocated field before the update. Any amount added to the Interest Amount will come as a negative amount under unallocated, which signifies it as a credit.
