Follow these step-by-step instructions to ensure the taxonomy code appears correctly in Box 24J of the HCFA form.
Step 1: Access Insurance Setup
- Go to Settings > Billing Setup > Insurance Setup.
- Locate the insurance plan you need to update.
- Click the pencil icon under the Edit column to open the insurance settings.
Step 2: Identify the Key Fields
In the insurance settings, you will find four key fields:
- Pull Form
- Use ID Qual From Provider
- Box 24J
- ID Qualifier
Step 3: Configure the "Pull Form" Setting
Under Pull Form, select one of the following options:
- Payor – Selecting Payor will fetch the Box 24J info next to Use ID Qualifier From Provider in the HCFA form .
- Provider – Selecting Provider first will allow you to select the ID qualifier from the drop-down.
Step 4: Set Up the ID Qualifier (If "Provider" is Selected)
- If you choose Provider, a dropdown will appear under ID Qualifier.
- Select the appropriate ID Qualifier from the list.
- The system will retrieve the Box 24J details from the supervising provider’s setup under Staff > Other Setup.
Step 5: Verify the Changes in the HCFA Form
- Save the updated settings.
- Open an HCFA form to confirm that the taxonomy code appears correctly in Box 24J.

- If the taxonomy code is missing or incorrect, review the staff setup and ensure the correct supervising provider details are entered.
